Last night I received my care package from Nachos Grande’s 2015 Topps Archives group break. I had purchased the Padres and for all that joined in the fun, he randomized a second team for each of us. I was dealt the Minnesota Twins.
Word on the street was that Topps was going to be paying a big tribute to the late, great Tony Gwynn. From what I can tell, and what little I’ve gleaned from other bloggers and Ebay postings, this was a bunch of hot air.
Somebody, anybody, please prove me wrong! I mean, a silver or gold border parallel isn’t a big tribute. Anyhoo…
I got a ton of cards via this break (thanks again, Nacho!). At the outset I can share I have 5 complete sets of both the Padres and the Twins available for trade.
The Padres I scored look thus:
As this is my third Will Ferrell I believe this one is being traded away to Gavin, is that right?
Both great, perhaps even timeless Topps throwback designs. Spangenberg actually look happy playing baseball (increasingly rare to see players smile, isn’t it?!), but the Upton “Strike Out” is phenomenal.
Nacho included a little note in his package, which I read before going through the three team bags worth of cards. He jotted down, “congrats on the printing plate – I don’t pull a lot of 1-of-1’s!”
Yeah?

All in all, a fun break Nachos Grande ran (thanks again, Nacho!). This might be the earliest I’ve completed the Padres team set aside from franchise series 1. Anyway, let me know which of these cards you’d like to trade for and we’ll get it going on!
